The Wind and Her Lament

by In Chasms Deep

Brian M. A starkly contrasted post-black metal release from a genuine and gracious artist that shows serious promise, and not just in the confines of extreme metal. "A Suicide in Paradise" and "Mourning Glory" stand out, for me. Favorite track: Mourning Glory.
Funeral Fog

Funeral Fog I felt swept into a pile of dark dust & came back for more. Some very heart gripping symphonic black metal. I've come back to this album again during a quiet Saturday night, coffee in hand & letting every emotion from this break parts of me, note by note. From the piano hits, the ferocious drums, & the screams to break all silence. Favorite track: Abyssgazer.

Lyrics: Tempests swirl as the night cloaks my body. Bringing my chills onward towards an austere gloom. Deafening lamentations cry as if crystalline glass. Breaking and bearing a path, a path through the trees. An open field in a forest of twinkling lights encased by fog. Why does the earth feel more real than I? The Wind howls and I can almost hear her voice. Her voice that wants chaos and harmony both. I struggle to feel anything but cold and despair. But a pang of ice strikes deep inside of my mind. Maybe if I howl like the wind I can find serenity in her arms.
2.
Lyrics: Boundless terrifying freedom. Like a great never ending sky reaching for eternity. Light casts a shadow shrouding Gaia in black smoke. Choking smog engulfs and brings the people to their knees. Slumlords and their rats living side by side in filth. Titanic steel meets the sun, achingly close, always out of reach. Energy, a way of death, sap the life from the core. Profit over humankind, snuff the soul, divert the blame.

Abyssgazer 08:56
Lyrics: I drag myself closer to the void with every waking moment. A voiceless specter in my mind. Incomprehensible self hatred brought on by an unknown assailant. I gaze into the abyss and the abyss gazes back into me. I can’t recall my name, and I don’t know that person in the mirror. Make it end, make it stop. Kill it or kill me instead. Gaze into the abyss.
5.
Lyrics: The rain is falling, the stars are crying. The wind is howling, and the earth is shaking. The rain, the stars, the wind, and the earth. The rain, the stars, the wind, and the earth. The sky cracks open, the wind she mourns us. The rain drowns countless, and the earth devours. The sky cracks open, the wind she mourns us. The rain drowns countless, and the earth ends all. The end of all.
